Fun fitness scrabble is a fantastic team activity. You can use the game we have created in the attached PDF, or you can use the game mechanics and the rules with the blank version and design a game for whatever fitness equipment, sports or lesson you intend to conduct. The reason it works so well is that teams are rewarded as a team for working hard and fast together with more letters. The more letters you have at the end, the better chance you have to create high scoring words and beat the other teams.

Before you start, you will need to print and laminate all of the attached letters below. Cut each one out individually and put them in a box or container for groups to be able to access.

The game is quite simple, in teams of three or four players will grab a letter from the container and complete either the question the card is asking, or they will complete the exercise on the card for the set number of reps. Before you start, you will need to select if groups are completing ten reps, twenty reps or thirty reps. Each group member will complete this many reps each time they pick a letter from the container that represents a bodyweight exercise.

When groups select a letter from the container that has a question on it, they need to perform a static hold from the list below and take it in turns to answer the question to their group. Once they have all responded to the question, they stop performing the static hold.

After teams finish the required movement or question for each letter, we recommend that they run 50 to 100 metres as a team before selecting another letter and repeating the process mentioned above.

At the end of the designated time, teams have two minutes to use all their letters to create as many words as they possibly can. Once they have completed words, they add up the values for each word and the team with the highest total score will be crowned ‘fun fitness scrabble’ champions for the session.
