Space Invaders Dice Battle
This game is based on the retro arcade game Space Invaders. This was one of the first games to be created a commercial video game and is still a crowd favourite today. Hence why we have designed it into a movement game as participants will love the concept and the game mechanics behind this timeless classic.
Space Invaders is best played in pairs or small teams of three or four players. Before you start each pair or group will need their own printed Space Invaders game card, two six-sided dice and a team name. Once you have this, you are ready to start playing.
The duration of the game can be set for any amount of time. We feel between ten to fifteen minutes’ works best. At the end of that time, if there is not a clear winner, the team with the most points wins. You will see the scoring system on the next attached PDF for the number of points worth for each colour invader.
The way you win the game is by rolling the dice and adding the two values together. That means you hit the closest icon in the category. For example, if you started the game by rolling a 3 and a four you would cross off the first black invader in column seven and then look on the scoring card, you would get one point for your team. Then you would have to roll the six-sided dice again and see what fitness movement you would need to complete as a team that matches the black Space Invader icon.
The game is quite simple, the quitter you roll, and the faster you work as a team, the more points you will score and the more significant chance you have of winning.
When players roll double’s on their dice, that is like a super shot. Whatever column the dice add up together they get to cross off to Space Invader icons and are awarded the points for both. All teams should be aiming to roll doubles as this will allow them to get more points and cross off more icons on their game card.
